Saucer dishes. Qingbai ware. A pair of porcelain saucer dishes. Acquisition Credit: Lent to the museum by Helen H. L. Whittow (nee Malcolm). ML.25A-1992: With incised decoration under a pale greenish blue glaze, which covers the whole surface except for approximately 0.5cm on both sides of the rim. Circular with sloping sides and convex centre. The centre is incised with a formal plant motif. Oval label printed in black with a tower and 'Malcolm Collection' and inscribed in blue black ink 'D./34'. The base and the centre of the interior are worn, and there are several minute chips in the rim. Porcelain, incised and glazed, height 3.1 cm, diameter 15.2 cm, 1100-1279. Song Dynasty (960-1279). Chinese. ML.25B-1992: With incised decoration under a pale greenish blue glaze, which covers the whole surface except for approximately 0.5cm on both sides of the rim. Circular with sloping sides and convex centre. The centre is incised with a formal plant motif. Oval label printed in black with a tower and 'Malcolm Collection' and inscribed in blue black ink 'D./35'. Slight wear to glaze on base, and in the centre where there is a small star shaped crack. orcelain, incised and glazed, height 3 cm, diameter 15 cm, 1100-1279. Song Dynasty (960-1279). Chinese.
