On the shoulder there is a band of gold-framed blue circles dotted with gold, linked by gold foliage. The neck has a blue ground decorated on each side with two four-petalled flower heads and stylised foliage flanking an oval white and gold medallion. The spout is white with gold scattered stars above a fan or shell motif. There are single gold bands round the base, the junction of the neck and shoulder, and the rim. The view on the jug was taken from a print entitled 'CAMBRIDGE' by W. & J. Walker, first produced iin 'The Copper Plate Magazine', and in February 1793 in 1798 in 'The Itinerant' The print is inscribed 'Engraved by W. & J. Walker from an Original Drawing by J.
