English silver-gilt spoon with an urn-shaped knop

An image of Seal top spoon. Spoon/flatware. Unidentified silversmith, London. The spoon has a fig-shaped bowl on a tapering, slightly flattened, hexagonal stem. The seal top finial has a flattened gadrooned knop above a gadrooned urn-shaped knop. The back of the bowl is prick engraved 'CR'. The gilding is old but not contemporary with the manufacture of the spoon. The spoon is forged and the finial cast. They are soldered with a lap joint. Silver-gilt (silver, gold) length, overall, 17.8 cm, weight, whole, 65 g, 1572-1573. Elizabethan. English.
