English buttonhole stitch purse made with a mould

An image of Textiles. Purse. Buttonhole stitch worked spirally on a cone shaped mould; two stitches are worked into the interspace between the stitches of the previous row. Colours brown, green and pink. At the bottom is a five-pointed star, above it a band of lozenges, gold with a pink centre upon a red background. At the top a similar band of lozenges but the background a pinkish brown. The background of the main body of the purse is silver thread with two rose sprays each consisting of a rose, a bud and leaves. The draw strings are formed by a plait of silver thread and pink and blue silk; the tassels are a large and small spherical bead covered with silver bullion. Silk, with gold and silver thread, length 3.75 in, diameter 1.75 in, circa 1600- circa 1699. English.
