TURNER, Alfred 'Standing Virgin holding Christ Child' Plaster, treated with wax and toned with clay and shellac; integral rectangular base. Presumed to be a cast of the model for the silver group exhibited by Turner at the Royal Academy in 1912 (no. 1835), but it is shown as a work in progress in some photographs of Turner apparently taken and certainly published in the summer of 1921. England C.1921
