Garrard, Robert II. Silver Presentation Trowel. This trowel was used by the by the Vice-Chancellor, Gilbert Ainslie, to lay the foundation stone of the Fitzwilliam Museum on 4 November 1837. Silver, the flat blade is soldered to the cast handle. The decoration and inscription are engraved. Length, overall, 36.4 cm, weight, gross, 420g, dated 1837. London, England.
