Carving/Handle-shaped jade. Pale green opaque jade altered extensively to creamy white, carved in a handle-shape, decorated with striated design. Handle-shaped jades commonly appeared in tombs dating from the late Shang to the early Western Zhou, but this object is unlike any examples from tombs. Furthermore, it is too thick, particularly the edge. Nephrite, length 14.4 cm, width 2.85 cm, 1900-1940. Chinese.
