An image of Cambridge Ale Jug. Josiah Wedgwood & Sons, Staffordshire. Decorated on the front in red and yellow enamel with the arms of Peterhouse, Cambridge. The exterior is decorated with a black transfer-print coloured in yellow and orange enamels. The jug is of squat pear-shape with a short cylindrical neck, and everted rim with a lip at the front. The strap handle has a longitudinal depression, and splays out at the bottom. There are two narrow turned bands level with the junction of the lower end of the handle and body, and a deeper, wider band below the neck. On the front below the lip there is the coat-of-arms of Peterhouse College, Cambridge, printed in black and enamelled in yellow and orange. Red stoneware, thrown, turned, and glazed inside, decorated in red and yellow enamel, height, whole, 18.3 cm, width, whole, 17.2 cm, circa 1891-1898. Medieval Style. Victorian.
