Sculpture / Plaque. Crucifixion. Under a cusped and crocketted arch, Christ hangs on the cross, which is painted black. On the left is the Virgin, and on the right St John, each holding a book. The spandrels are painted black with two gilt trefoils. Carved ivory, with painted and gilded decoration, height, whole, 3 1/4 in, width, whole, 1 3/4 in, circa 1300-1400. Gothic. Medieval. French.
