Silver knife and fork with aventurine handles, by Amos White

An image of Cutlery/Knife and Fork. White, Amos, cutler (English). Unknown handle maker, Italy, The Veneto. The knife has a steel scimitar-shaped blade with rounded tip; the handle is of blue aventurine glass which is flecked with bronze to resemble lapis lazuli. The facetted pistol grip handle has a silver ferrule embossed with two reeded borders and with an invected edge; the fork has two long steel tines on a baluster stem. The handle is similar to that of the knife. Glass, silver and steel, length, knife, 16.8 cm, length, fork, 14.7 cm, circa 1720-circa 1750. From slide: SL.8041.
