Furniture. Pair of chairs. Makepeace, John (British, b.1939). Fumed English oak, polished aluminium, and red leather, 2015. Provenance: The fumed oak used in the construction of the chairs comes from a tree at Longleat, planted in 1740 and felled in 1980. The chairs were originally designed as part of the ceremonial furniture for graduation ceremonies at Plymouth University. Given by Sir Nicholas and Lady Judith Goodison, through the Art Fund.
