Sculpture / Casket. Unknown Maker. Rectangular casket of ivory, lined with velvet. The gilded metal mounts have bulbous points with tapering ends. A gilt metal handle is placed in the centre of the lid and of two sides. Decoration consists of small engraved patterns of concentric circles around a dot with smaller circles at the cardinal points. They are placed around the edges of the box, mainly to mask the oval marks of the dowels. School/Style: Siculo-Arabic. Production Place: Sicily. Circa 1200-1330.
