English glass two-handled cup

An image of Two-handled cup. Unidentified English glasshouse. The cup stands on a circular foot with a rough pontil mark underneath. The body is thistle-shaped with two applied loop handles.  The foot has indented rings. The lower part of the body is moulded with ribs, pincered into a repeating diamond pattern (nipt diamond-waies). The waist has three horizontally trailed threads pincered twice on each side and once under each handle to form a chain. The handles have a vertical ridge and a pincered kick at the bottom. Colourless lead-glass blown, pattern-moulded, pincered, and trailed. height, whole, 14.8 cm, width, whole, 20 cm, 1690-1710. Baroque. Sir Ivor and Lady Batchelor Bequest through The Art Fund.
