European glass pharmacy flask

Image attached to C.217-2015

An image of Continental glass. Pharmacy flask. Cruet. Unidentified glasshouse, European. Pale yellowish-green glass with vertical opaque white threads, and dark blue glass finial, height, whole, 16.5 cm, width, whole, 9.6 cm, circa 1600-1799. 18th century Spanish, or 17th century Italian. Production Note: The yellowish-green tone of the glass may indicate that this flask was made in Spain rather than Italy. This form, which is closed except for a small hole in the end of the spout, was used to store liquids which tended to evaporate. A small cover would have been tied over the end of the spout.
