Etching, drypoint, black carbon ink on laid paper, chainlines vertical (approx. 30 mm), height, plate, 105 mm, width, plate, 130 mm; height, sheet, 105 mm, width, sheet, 130 mm, circa 1650. Late impression. Paper bears a watermark for 1742. Production Note: II/II. Printed from the reworked plate. Notes(s): The watermark on this impression can be related to eighteenth century French paper makers in the Auvergne, and it is similar, but not identical to two watermarks illustrated by Ash & Fletcher (39.F.a) and Heawood (3407). The watermark shown by Heawood includes a bunch of grapes and the word 'FIN' is placed above the maker's name and place of manufacture and date; in Ash & Fletcher, the watermark includes 'FIN' at the end of the name.
