Etching, drypoint, black carbon ink, on Oriental paper, perhaps Japanese paper, height, plate, 248 mm, width, plate, 204 mm; height, sheet, 250 mm, width, sheet, 207 mm, 1639. Production Note: II/II. Notes(s): The sitter was Receiver-General, and assisted Rembrandt in gaining payment for paintings he executed for Frederick Henry. He was a cousin of the preacher of the same name, also portrayed by the artist - see AD.12.39-184 and 23.K.5-367. Alternative Number(s): Hollstein (Dutch/Flemish); B281 II/II; 1969. Biörklund/Barnard; BB39-D II/II; 1955.
