Etching, drypoint, surface tone, black carbon ink on laid paper, chainlines horizontal (24 mm), height, plate, 121 mm, width, plate, 320 mm; height, sheet, 122 mm, width, sheet, 322 mm, 1651. Production Note: Only state. Notes: According to eighteenth century sources, the print apparently represented a view of the country house and estates of the Amsterdam Receiver-General, Jan Uytenbogaert, the 'goldweigher' of the title. In fact, the panorama was taken from Het Kopje, a dune near Haarlem, and the estate shown belonged to Christoffel Thijs, one of Rembrandt's creditors.
