  • Chalice. PEDR/AZA, silversmith, Spain. Set with enamelled plaques and silver and silver-gilt bosses. The large stepped circular foot is engraved with a border of scrolls set with four applied cherubs' heads alternating with four blue and orange enamelled silver bosses. The stem comprises a series of spools and knops, with borders of applied of masks, silver bunches of fruit and enamelled bosses. The top half of the U-shaped cup is undecorated. Beneath an applied girdle the cup has four enamelled bosses alternating with four white stones above applied pairs of ribs. Silver, raised, cast, and engraved, with applied cast and enamelled bosses, height, to rim, 2, cm, diameter, base, 17.3 cm, diameter, rim, 9.2 cm, weight, gross, 1242 g, circa 1620. Renaissance.
