Silver and crystal reliquary with a female saint

An image of Reliquary. Unknown silversmith. The circular foot stands on a facetted rock crystal knop over a raised border of filigree set with four red stones, on a vertical band pieced and embossed with four putti heads alternating with four coloured stones, above a filigree border surrounded by sixteen coloured stones and a rope edge. The domed cover is of filigree over a solid lining, and is set with three borders of coloured stones. The finial of a female saint holding a sword stands on a facetted rock cystal knop. Silver-gilt and rock crystal; twelve-sided tube of rock crystal mounted with silver-gilt pierced, embossed and filigree and set with stones, with similarly decorated cover. Height, overall, 32 cm, diameter, foot, 9.2 cm, circa 1600- circa 1640. Production Note: The silver-gilt is not marked, but was probably made in Germany. The finial made be of a later date.
