  • Standing cup and cover/columbine cup. Wolff, Thomas, silversmith, Germany, Nuremburg. Inscriptions: town mark; on the rim; struck; N; Nuremberg. Maker's mark; on the rim; struck; TW; Thomas Wolff. The spreading circular silver-gilt foot is embossed with a ring of lobes round the central dome, which supports the silver stem in the shape of a boy holding a ring and pin with a stem and three scrolls rising from his head. The silver-gilt columbine-shaped bowl is waisted and heavily embossed with lobes in a band round the rim, and near the base. The similarly decorated cover is surmounted by a silver finial is formed as a bunch of flowers. Silver-gilt, raised and embossed body, chased decoration and cast stem, height, overall, 46.5 cm, diameter, cover, 11.5 cm, 1617-1634. Mannerist. **Before cleaning**
