Image attached to MAR.M.59-1912

An image of Coconut cup tankard. Unknown, silversmith, Germany. The low domed foot is embossed with a border of round and oval cartouches and fruit on a matted ground. The short stem has three flat scroll brackets supporting the pierced calyx which holds the coconut cup. The cup is held by three hinged straps in the form of caryatids holding shells aloft. The rim of the coconut is held by a broad band of ornate embossed and chased gadroons. Above this is a broad rim embossed and chased with strapwork and fruit. The slightly domed cover is similarly decorated and has an urn-shaped finial. The hollow D-section scroll handle has a shield-shaped terminal and a thumbpiece cast as a boy sitting on a U-shaped bar.
