Sauce-boat. Chelsea Porcelain Manufactory. The body is relief-moulded with garlands of fruit and flowers, and stands on a separate moulded flared base with C-scrolls, and alternate putto and goat masks in relief. The interior is painted with a spray of chrysanthemum, and the outside with scattered sprigs and insects. The handle, rim, and foot are outlined in black. The flower painting is in a famille-rose palette, but is more reminiscent of that on Kakiemon porcelain from Arita in Japan. Soft-paste porcelain, moulded, and painted in yellow, green, blue, pink, and black enamels, circa 1745-1749. Chelsea, England. Acquisition: given 1941, National Art Collections Fund.
