  • Illuminated manuscript. Cutting. Historiated initial from an Antiphoner. Production Place: Spain. Parchment, gold, 140 x 145 mm, two fragmentary four-line musical staves ruled in red ink and two fragmentary lines of text ruled in brown ink, after 1455. CONTENTS: The initial would have introduced the first responsory at Matins for the feast of St Vincent Ferrer (5 April), part of which survives on the reverse, [Summus parens ac rector gentium in vespere labentis seculi novum vatem misit vincentium christiani magistrum populi refert instare Dei ju]dicium Quod [spectabunt c]unctorum oculi. DECORATION: Hisotriated initial in graded pink acanthus with floral extensions on plain parchment ground: [S, 2 ll.] St Vincent Ferrer preaching, holding an open book and a lily.
