Fritware eight-pointed star tile, Il-Khanid

An image of Fritware. Tile. Ali ibn Muhammad (potter, possibly), Kashan. Eight pointed star-shaped tile. Decoration: around the exterior, contained within blue lines nashki script is painted in lustre. In the centre, reserved in lustre, two birds perch back to back in a paradise tree highlighted in blue and turquoise against a background of dotted scrolls. Beneath the tree a stylised fish is also reserved in lustre against an identical background. Pinkish fritware, mould made; the upper surface painted in blue and turquoise under a white glaze onto which is painted in brown lustre. Width (whole) 20.5 cm, depth (whole) 1.3 cm, 1267. Il-Khanid. Islamic.
