Textiles. Roundel. Unknown maker, China. Five-clawed dragon on a background of waves and clouds, with six precious objects around perimeter. Silk and metal embroidery on satin; blue ground with polychrome embroidery - satin stitch, stem stitch, encroaching satin, seed stitch (Peking knot), with laid and couched work. Diameter, whole, 28 cm, circa 1750-circa 1775. Acquisition Credit: Given by Mrs. Soame Jenyns, in accordance with the wishes of her late husband, Soame Jenyns.
