Sculpture/ Salt Cellar. Kneeling Youth with Shell. Campagna, Girolamo, style of (Italian, 1549/50-p.1626), The Veneto. The nude youth kneels on his left knee with back and head bent forward to support a large shell, which he holds with both hands. The bronze is accompanied by an oval, grey-veined yellow marble base, moulded at the top and bottom, with screwed into the top with two screws, a smaller, oval wooden platform (not accessioned). Bronze, cast, with light brown patina, highly polished, height, whole, 20.5 cm, circa 1800-1900. In the style of 17th century, but probably 19th century.
