An image of Ewer. Jug. Unknown silversmith, Spain, Madrid. Cylindrical body decorated with straps and a grotesque mask. The body has an applied moulded lip ring and two applied girdles. The body has an all-over pattern of slightly raised straps on a matted parcel-gilt ground. The spout is cast in the form of a grotesque mask. The body stands on an undecorated spreading circular foot. The angular handle teminates in a scroll. Silver, parcel-gilt, the body was raised, the spout cast, and the decoration chased. Height, top of the handle, 14.2 cm, width, spout to handle, 17.8 cm, weight 674 g, circa 1590. Renaissance.
