Continental glass. Càntir. Pouring vessel for wine. Pale olive-green bubbly glass with opaque white threads, applied blue glass decoration and bird finial. Glass, blown and trailed, height, whole, 28 cm, width, whole, 15.2 cm circa 1740-1760. Production Note: A càntir is a vessel for pouring water. The word derives from the Spanish cántaro, a ceramic jug. Sir Ivor and Lady Batchelor Bequest through The Art Fund.
