CONTENTS: Third antiphon of the first nocturn in Matins for the feast of St Clare, Cuncta pro Christi nomine contemnens crine tonso coram altari Domine nubit eterno sponso, followed by the responsory for the first lesson in Matins, Francisci pia plantula mire fructificavit in orbe cum discipula Clara quam informavit. Castitatis per secula cultum… mul- (continuing on verso) -tiplicavit, versicle Virgo sub sacra regula multarum iam preambula se deo consecravit, and responsory In via penitentie glebas…thesaurus meritorum; the initial F would have introduced the responsory for the first lesson in Matins for the feast of St Clare (12 August) in a Franciscan Antiphoner for the Sanctoral. ORNAMENTATION: Blue and red parted initial [F, height of three staves] with voided ornament, yellow wash and red and blue pen-flourished infill and extensions; alternate blue and red one-line penwork initials with red or blue pen flourishing.
