Illuminated manuscript. Cutting. Annunciation or Cutting. Production: Italy, probably Lombardy. Parchment, gold, 130 x 78 mm, circa 1450 to circa 1475. CONTENTS: On reverse, four lines of fragmentary text rendered illegible by the cardboard to which the cutting was formerly pasted. DECORATION: Annunciation, showing the Virgin before a lectern with an open book, the Archangel Gabriel kneeling in a jewelled cape, and a host of angels with the Christ Child following the dove of the Holy Spirit.
