  • Illuminated Manuscript. Leaf from a Missal. Master of the Hindman leaves. Parchment, approx. 367 x 247 mm (230 x 165 mm), two columns, 26 lines, ruled in plummet. Circa 1300. Production Place: Italy, Perugia. CONTENTS: Offertory, Secret, Communion and Post-Communion of the Mass for the fest of St Saturninus (29 Nov.), followed by the Introit of the Mass for the feast of St Andrew (30 Nov.), the Collect, Maiestatem tuam, illustrated by the initial, and (on the reverse) the Epistle reading from St Paul to the Romans 10:10, the Gradual, and the Gospel reading from St Matthew 4:18 DECORATION: Historiated initial in graded pink and gold on blue and gold grounds, with acanthus extensions with gold leaves and balls: Collect for the Mass of St Andrew, [M, 7 ll.] St Andrew standing and holding cross. ORNAMENTATION: alternate red and blue penwork initials [2 ll.] with purple or red pen-flourished infill and extensions’ alternate red and blue one-line penwork initials; capitals highlighted in yellow.
