An image of Cup and cover/pineapple cup. Fischer, Franz (silversmith, Nüremberg, surname is also spelt Vischer). Lobed ovoid body and cover supported by a stem in the shape of a tree trunk with figure of a woodman. Silver-gilt; the spreading circular silver-gilt foot is embossed with a ring of lobes round a central dome, which supports the silver stem in the shape of a tree trunk encircled by a creeper, and the figure of an ax-wielding woodman. The ovoid silver-gilt body and interlocking cover are embossed with lobes. The silver finial is formed as a bunch of flowers. Silver and gold, raised and embossed body and foot, cast stem and woodcutter, height, overall, 33.3 cm, diameter, overall, 8 cm, weight, whole, 281 g, 1600-1653. Mannerist.
