  • Illuminated manuscript. Cutting. Illuminated initial from an Antiphoner. Associate of Nicolò di Giacomo (Italian). Production Place: Bologna, Italy. Parchment, gold, 110 x 108 mm, two musical staves ruled in red ink, two fragmentary lines of text. Probably 1368. CONTENTS: On reverse, part of the antiphon to the Magnificat for the third day of the third week of Advent, [Elevare, elevare consurge Jerusalem so]lve vincula [colli tui ca]ptiva filia [Sion] (Is. 52:2); the initial, which would have been on the recto of the original leaf, would have introduced the responsory to the first lesson for the third day of the week in the third week of Advent, Aegypte noli flere, quia dominator tuus veniet tibi. DECORATION: Historiated initial in graded pink on gold ground: [A] The Redeemer appears to two prophets.
