An image of Scarab. Steatite scarab decorated with a winged scarab on the base. Production Place/Find Spot: Egypt. The scarab is modeled in high relief with great detail. The reverse, nearly without damages, is clearly cut. A double-line forms the partition of elytra and protorax, three lines dividing the elytra and forms the suture. The humeral callosities are shown but nearly invisible. The head is narrow and rectangular, eyes are indicated. The clypeus is defined. The legs are very natural and highly arched in high relief. They meet at the junction of the elytra and protorax. They are notched and have feathery details, mainly at the front legs. The scarab is sitting on a base (0.001 m). Brownish steatite, at attritions brighter, 1550-1185 B.C. New Kingdom.
