An image of Tankard. Payne, John (British, fl. 1733-99). Silver, raised, with a low moulded foot, and pear-shaped body with an applied horizontal moulding about a third of the way up. The raised and seamed scroll handle has a heart-shaped lower terminal and a cast lambrequin motif at the top below the hinge. The tall stepped and domed cover has an openwork thumbpiece. London, England. Silver, raised, with an applied horizontal moulding, and a cast lambrequin at the top of the handle. Height, to top of cover, 21 cm, width, from rim to handle, 17.2 cm, diameter, foot, 11 cm. Between 1761-1762.
