object type: Linen band sampler embroidered with polychrome silks in double running, cross, Montenegrin cross and satin stitch with some speckling and detached needle lace stitches.  All the edges are hemmed.  The pattern consists of neatly worked bands of highly stylized floral repeat patterns and at the top a band  incorporating two boxer figures.  the name 'eLSABeth' and the date '1629' are worked at lower end of the sampler.
