A border frames the main body of the sampler which comprises five separate sections. The first section is made up of four bands which include a border design, alphabets and numerals. The second section depicts a bowl of flowers, a lozenge, a peacock and what resembles a strawberry. The third section has the inscription 'When a few years are come then I Shall/Go to the place whence I Shall not return' worked. Section four includes a crown and sprig, a strawberry, a heart and a stag.
