object type: Cream-coloured earthenware with Rockingham glaze and gilt decoration on the rims, handle and spout. Shape 159 or `Rockingham' shape. Squat piriform body with loop handle and slightly curved spout; convex cover (A) with a deep cylindrical flange fitting inside the body, and a widow finial. Round the rim of the pot and the edge of the cover there are two horizontal bands, and a scalloped line with groups of three balls on stems depending from it. There are sprays of stylised leaves on both sides of the spout, and between them, six graduated dots with tapering strokes above and below. The tip of the spout is encircled by a line. On the back of the handle there is a tapering stroke with a dot and three strokes above, and, on each side of the handle, a line.
