object type: Pewter tankard with a flat lid. The thumbpiece has a crest and mantling above a coronet. Inside, at the bottom, is a pewter medallion of Charles I. Style of the mid 17th century

Determined a fake by the Pewterer's Society, 1953. The surface appears acid marked, and the thumbpiece is of poor quality.
