object type: Bone china, slip-cast, printed underglaze in blue and gilded.  The vase stands on a circular straight-sided foot. The sides are set in from its edge, and rise upwards and slightly outwards and then curve inwards to the circular mouth. The sides have eight alternately receding and projecting facets. The shoulders are decorated with panels printed in reserve in blue  with the words ‘.ELIZABETH.’ ‘.& PHILIP.’ ‘.MARRIED.’ ‘.NOV.20TH 1947’. These alternative with panels of roses and foliage. The sides have spaced rows of the initials EP in gold., and on the underside of the base in gold is an inscription, ‘THE MARRIAGE OF H.R.H./PRINCESS ELIZABETH/TO LIEUT. PHILIP.MOUNTBATTEN/R.N.’ surrounding the factory’s backstamp.
