The unglazed underside has a small circular ventilation hole near the back. The square low mound base has a low tree stump, and is decorated with applied leaves, with a blue, a yellow and a mauve flower. The tinker faces front, standing on his right leg with his left advanced so that the toe extends over the edge of the base. A buff three-legged cauldron is slung over his right shoulder and he holds the cover in his right hand which he holds level with his diaphragm. In his left hand he carried a brown flat iron. He has shoulder-length black hair, partly covered by a black tricorne hat.
