----------------
object type: Carved chalcedony and grey and white agate with gold mounts, set with red, green and white glass in silver mounts. Rounded rectangular chalcedony sealstone with intaglio triumphal chariot drawn towards the right by two elephants carrying towers on their backs; they pull a driver who holds a torch. The domed stone has a rim mount with reeded border. The agate handle, carved in the round and supported at the base with a gold mount, depicts a bust of Ceres with a cornucopia on her back. Her long hair falls in curls over her left shoulder, whilst her right shoulder is covered with her veil with folds indicated by the stone's white veining. At the front of her head, with the suspension loop behind, is a tiara set with nine glass stones imitating diamonds, emeralds and rubies.
