object type: Large steel leaf shaped blade of almost flat section, cut with a quadrangular waisted section at the forte, and of almost flat section. The blade is brazed to a plain socket with a brazed join down one side, and D-section reinforcing rings at the top and bottom. There are spots of brass on the wings at the base of the blade also. The socket retains a fragment of a wooden haft. There are two holes just above the lower reinforce for nails into the haft, but no nails or evidence of nail holes
