DESCRIPTIVE DATA

object type: Forward angled, double edged steel blade of almost flat section, with a low medial ridge at the forte. The original wooden hilt is long and thin, round section at the blade where it has a slot for the tang, and is secured by a plain iron ferrule and two moulded iron reinforcing bands and a rivet with a star washer. The remainder of the hilt is faceted, and cut away at the underside leaving the pommel section proud to form a grip
