object type: The steel blade is double edged and double curved, with two fullers along most of its length. At the forte the blade widens into pierced and cusped wings with incised geometrical ornament. The hilt comprises a steel guard and knucklebow, and grip and pommel of wood. The guard is a narrow oval, with a finial at the top and scalloped edges, a curved knucklebow ending in a stylised dragon-head finial. The grip is bent, and formed of two pieces of pale wood riveted with iron rivets and copper alloy washers to the tang.
