object type: Vase with peony scrolls. Stoneware, thrown, incised and celadon-glazed. This maebyong-shaped vase has a cupped mouth (repaired), wide shoulder and flares very slightly at the base; the footring is low. The decoration is in finely incised lines and consists of a band of chrysanthemum petals on the shoulder and another around the base, and a lively peony scroll with six fully-opened blooms between. The glaze has a pale bluish celadon colour, is thinly applied, and finely crackled. Fire-clay spur-marks are visible on the footring.
