DESCRIPTIVE DATA
----------------
object type: Stand with chrysanthemum design. Stoneware, moulded, carved, painted, inlaid in black and white slip and celadon-glazed. The circular stand has a barbed skirt and five youi-like feet reminiscent of the pedestals for Buddhist figures. The feet are deeply carved with vertical lines and the central support for the cup with lotus petals, and dots of white slip are painted around the rim. A chrysanthemum floret is incised on the central recess, and a pattern of waves surrounds the support. The pale bluish-green jade-like glaze is clear and has a subtle gloss. The base has quartzite spur-marks. The stand accompanies a cup (C.117-1984).
