object type: Fruit wood and silver; the wood bowl is fig-shaped (part missing) on a tapering stem.  The front of the bowl is carved with a vignette of the Last Judgement,   the back of the bowl is carved with a vignette of the Ascension of Christ, and, at the base, the Crucifixion.  The silver handle is five-sided and tapers towards the terminal which has a ball-shaped finial. The sides of the handle have been engraved with a pattern of lines.

TECHNIQUES

The wood bowl and tapering stem were carved.  The seam down the back of the silver handle was soldered and the finial soldered to the terminal.  The hollow silver handle was glued to the short wood stem.  The decoration on the silver handle was engraved.
