It is attached to the octagonal handle, which broadens towards the terminal, by a cast gilt metal leaf-shaped mount which narrows to an octagonal ferrule. The finial is shaped as the bust of a woman, carved in white agate, wrapped in gilt metal drapery, which is tied at the front with a bow.
