object type: Agate and gilt metal spoon. Lilac agate bowl and handle, gilt metal mount, and white agate and gilt metal terminal.  The oval bowl is carved on the back with a palm leaf pattern.  It is attached to the octagonal handle, which broadens towards the terminal, by a cast gilt metal leaf-shaped mount which narrows to an octagonal ferrule.  The finial is shaped as the bust of a woman, carved in white agate, wrapped in gilt metal drapery, which is tied at the front with a bow.  This rests on a gilt metal ferrule of stiff leaves.
