object type: Steel, parcel-gilt and mother-of-pearl; the knife has a steel blade with parallel sides and pointed tip; the upper edge of the blade and the sides near the bolster are chased and gilt.  The cast steel handle is formed of a ball-shaped knop either side of a rectangle inset with two mother-of pearl panels, surmounted by an openwork baluster and an eagle-shaped finial.  The baluster and eagle show traces of gilding.
